Abaco Lodge a world class bonefish lodge by Nervious Waters, is perched looking west into a vast bonefish estuary. It is the only lodge located directly on the “Marls of Abaco”, a vast expanse of prime, wilderness bonefish habitat, situated along the western shore of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas.Their fleet of Hell’s Bay Boatworks’ custom skiffs are waiting for you at the dock.
There are only a few more weeks left before the lodge will call it a season, but there is one last big event coming up: Flip Pallot, “the” authority on saltwater fly fishing will be hosting a group during the first days of July to share tips, stories and an unforgettable fishing experience.

The Bonefish and Tarpon Trust reports an angler at Belize River Lodge made the first Belize recapture of a tagged bonefish on the same flat it was tagged and released on 2 months earlier by BTT Board Member Mick Kolassa. Bonefish tagging in Belize is entering its third year and tag recaptures are a testament to the survival of bonefish when proper handling techniques are used. Tagging programs are used to assess movement patterns, which aren’t always long distances, and growth rates in different locations. It is very common for bonefish to be recaptured on the same flat where they were first tagged. This information is very useful for designing habitat protection and fisheries conservation strategies that will keep the fisheries healthy for the long term. BTT thanks Belize River Lodge for participating in their tagging programs and we encourage you to visit other participating lodges and let the guides know you are interested in tagging.
