Here’s an excerpt about UF’s Shark Research Program and Hell’s Bay:

“A group of University of Florida researchers is in Mosquito Lagoon this week, trying to catch young bull sharks to try out some new ‘high-tech’ tracking tags, said George Burgess, director of the Florida Program for Shark Research, hosed at the university’s Florida Museum of Natural History. Earlier in October, the university’s shark-research program got a big boost, thanks to a group of former UF alumni…...Benedict connected Steve Stock, the foundation’s Chief executive, with another of his clients, Hell’s Bay Boatworks….The owners Chris and Wendi Peterson of New Smyrna Beach, both Gator Alums…...“At the end of the day, it was something Hell’s Bay was able and willing to do,” Benedict said. The company built an 18-foot flats boat to the university’s requirements including additional safety measure, then donated the boat and trailer, valued at more than $50,000.”

Here’s an excerpt from the Gainesville Sun about the recent UF Homecoming Parade and the newly donated Hell’s Bay Boat.

“The parade also marked the public debut of a new boat donated to UF’s program for shark research. The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation and Hell’s Bay Boatworks Inc. donated the 18-foot flats boat, which was covered in a shark-themed design by marine wildlife artist Harvey.“It’s a donation from Gators to Gators,” said George Burgess, director of the shark program. “It’s the kind of stuff that we like to talk about at Homecoming.”
