Hell’s Bay Boatworks now offering Amera Trail as an OEM Trailer Option
At Hell’s Bay Boatworks, we build boats with care, precision with (ISO 12215-5 standards) and a nod to traditional boat-making values. So, it only makes sense that your boat should ride on a trailer crafted with equal thought and quality. That’s why we’re excited to announce that Amera Trail is now offered as an official OEM trailer option for Hell’s Bay Skiffs — giving you another premium way to get afloat and stay that way.

Why Amera Trail? A Perfect Match for Hell’s Bay Skiffs!
Purpose-built for your boat. Amera Trail builds custom trailers to fit the exact specifications of each boat. Their “Preferred Fit” approach ensures proper alignment, balance, dry launch abilities (skiff’s only) and support no matter which Hell’s Bay hull you choose.
Top-tier construction. Amera Trail uses heavy-duty aluminum soft edge channel frames, welded bunk brackets and cross members, isolated (for galvanic corrosion) torsion axles, and corrosion-resistant hardware — built for salt-water conditions and longevity.
Customizable to your needs. From LED lighting, disc-brake systems, custom logos, spare-tire setups, to walk boards and guide-pole covers — the trailer can be outfitted to suit your hauling, launching, and storage conditions.

Legacy of excellence. Amera Trail has been building custom trailers since 1986, with near 40 years of experience — a reputation built on craftsmanship, reliability, and attention to detail.

What This Means for Hell’s Bay Customers…
* A true “turnkey” package. When you order a Hell’s Bay skiff, you can now include a purpose-built Amera Trail trailer — one that fits your boat’s hull precisely, performs reliably on Florida roads or saltwater ramps, and needs minimal modification.
* Better protection & longevity. Aluminum construction with marine-grade components means less corrosion, less maintenance, and a trailer that will stay tough over years of towing, launching, and saltwater exposure.
* Flexibility & personalization. Whether you store your boat in a tight garage, tow long distances, with stainless hardware for saltwater resistance, the custom options (some already included for Hell’s Bay Models) let you tailor the trailer to your lifestyle.
* Enhanced peace of mind. A trailer engineered for your exact boat reduces stress on hull bunks, improves launch/retrieval consistency, and means safer transport — especially useful for skiffs that often double as working boats or guide boats.
How It Works — Ordering Made Simple!
1. When placing your order with Hell’s Bay, review our trailer option page or just simply ask for the Amera Trail OEM trailer with your needed options.
2. We’ll coordinate with Amera Trail to build a trailer specifically for your boat’s hull dimensions and your preferred specs (brakes, wheels, spare tire, etc.).
3. Once built, we’ll deliver the boat and trailer together — ready to load, launch, and enjoy.
4. Amera Trail has great support and after-sales service. With a 24 hour online parts ordering, and maintenance items, to keep your trailer in top shape for years…
For those who believe a boat is only as good as its support — from hull to haul — adding an Amera Trail trailer as your OEM option offers a seamless, durable, and customizable solution. It’s more than just a trailer; it’s part of the Hell’s Bay experience!
We’re happy to offer this collaboration as part of our ongoing commitment to delivering the“World’s finest shallow water skiffs” — because excellence shouldn’t stop at the hull!
WE DON’T TAKE ORDERS, WE HAVE CONVERSATIONS:
We start by sitting down and talking through the essentials—where you fish, who you fish with, and how you like to do it. Side or center console? Tiller? Fly or bait. Every angler and guide have their preferences, and that’s exactly how we build them. Together, we design a boat that fits your style, your needs, and your waters. Then we craft a vessel that’s purpose-built for the way you fish.
Give us a call or stop by — we’ll help you get started on your next Hell’s Bay, the World’s Finest Shallow Water Skiffs!
OEM Trailers
When you invest in a custom-built Hell’s Bay Skiff…
It deserves nothing less than a custom trailer—built with the same care, precision, and craftsmanship as the boat itself. That’s why we use Ram-Lin Trailers in Orlando, and (now) AmeraTrail Trailers out of Harmony, Florida, as our OEM trailers which are designed to mirror the exact lines of our hulls and reflect the same meticulous attention to detail and finish, which defines every Hell’s Bay Skiff and Bay Boat!
Whether it’s for your current boat or the next one, they are the perfect fit and match…
Ram-Lin brings more than 30 years of expertise in metal fabrication, coatings, CNC manufacturing, and CMM inspection. They don’t just build trailers, they build trust. With a focus on reliability and integrity, Ram-Lin delivers products and services that live up to the standards we expect and our owner’s demand.
AmeraTrail originated 40 years ago in 1986 when Founder and President Scott Locke, had the goal to create a trailer that was superior to all others. From day one, Scott never wanted to be largest trailer manufacturer, just THE BEST. As he always said “… A great day on the water should always end with an easy loading trailer and a safe journey home…”

Just what is Carbon Innegra?
At Hell’s Bay Boatworks, every build meets rigorous International ISO standards, and our proprietary resin system is engineered to deliver strength far beyond conventional boat-building resins. To fortify our hull composites, we integrate Innegra—a high-performance fiber with a ballistic coefficient that outclasses aramid materials such as Kevlar.

Unlike Kevlar, which absorbs moisture over time due to its hygroscopic nature, Innegra is hydrophobic and buoyant. That means it won’t swell, degrade, or weigh you down in wet environments—making it the perfect choice for our hull construction.
Carbon Innegra is a hybrid composite material that combines the rigidity and strength of carbon fiber with the impact resistance and lightweight properties of Innegra fibers. Woven together into a unified fabric, this blend delivers a balance of stiffness and durability, making it ideal for applications that demand both structural performance and shock absorption. Innegra features and benefits…
Innegra is a polypropylene-based fiber known for being:

- Impact-resistant
- Flexible
Why we use it in our hulls?
- Impact Resistance: Less likely to crack or shatter on impact—good for gear that takes hits.
- Damping Vibration: Great for stuff like surfboards, paddles, bike frames—reduces the buzz.
- Durability: It doesn’t splinter like pure carbon fiber can.
- Lighter Weight: Innegra’s lighter than water— It can even float!
Other products where you may see it used:
- High-performance fishing rods.
- Some stand-up paddle-boards.
- Some Surfboards.
- Even in bicycles, motorsports or ballistics.
- And of course, Hells’ Bay Skiffs and Bay Boats!
Innegra is ideal for applications requiring a durable, impact-resistant, and flexible material that can withstand repeated stress without deformation or failure.
Carbon Innegra vs. Kevlar that is used in other Skiffs and Boats, how do they compare?
Much like comparing a Swiss Army knife to a bulletproof vest. Both tough, but like everything in engineering there is always a trade off. Each one brings different aspects to the design intent, see below:

Carbon Innegra versus Kevlar uses:
Kevlar – Is stiffer, tougher against abrasion, and excellent for protective applications (like stopping bullets).
Carbon Innegra – Flexible, floats, shock-absorbing, and great for things that need to be both strong yet forgiving (surfboards, paddles, fishing rods). This is why we use it for our Skiffs and Bay Boats!
Join Chris Peterson of Hell’s Bay Boatworks and Dave from Flats Nation below, as they explore the application of Carbon Innegra in the structural design and advanced composite construction of Hell’s Bay hulls below:
A SKIFF FOR THOSE WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS AND A LOW TOLERANCE FOR COMPROMISE!
WE ARE NOT A FACTORY, WE ARE A BOATWORKS:
* We have no assembly line.
* A boat doesn’t go into the mold until an owner has told us exactly how they would like it, and our craftsmen carefully bring it to reality at every step of the build process.
* Each one is custom built to a singular standard.

Elevate Your Expectations with Hell’s Bay Boatworks — Built to The Highest Industry Standards: ISO 12215‑5

When you choose a Hell’s Bay skiff, you’re not just buying another shallow-water boat. You’re stepping into a legacy of craftsmanship and engineering that meets one of the most respected structural standards in boat-building: ISO 12215‑5.
Why That Standard Matters (and Why You’ll Appreciate It)
Let’s keep it simple: ISO 12215-5 is all about making sure your boat’s hull, deck and structure are built strong enough and smart enough to take whatever calm bay, chop or shallow-water adventure you throw at it. In plain terms, it means:
- The structure is designed to manage loads, hits, impact, stress.
- It uses recognized engineering principles, not guesswork.
- It helps confirm that the boat was built right—not just by feel, but by spec.
Hell’s Bay takes this seriously. They’re fishing-guide born, craft-built, and their homespun roots meet engineering standards.
Hell’s Bay Skiffs: What You Get:
- One-piece construction: Built from top-tier materials like Carbon Innegra and techniques, executed with the hands-on attention that guides demand.
- Shallow-water mastery: Designed for inches, not feet. Drafts down to 3½″ in some models, so you can slip into places others can’t.
- Built by people who fish and guide: That means the finish, the layout, the feel—they all come from real-world use. Not just a drawing board.
- Engineering meets soul: Yes, these boats look great. But more importantly: the structure is backed by the same kind of engineering and construction the ISO standards demand.

How This Adds Value for You:
- Peace of mind: You know the structure meets known good standards. You’re not hoping for “strong enough.”
- Longevity: The stronger the build, the longer it holds up. Less worry down the road about fatigue, buckling, weird flex issues.
- Resale & reputation: A Hell’s Bay crafted to high standards carries cred. When you say you own a Hell’s Bay, people nod—because they know what it means.
- Real performance in harsh places: Whether you’re in skinny flats chasing tails or sneaking through mangrove channels, you’ve got a boat built for that kind of work.

What That Means for You:
1. Strength You Can Feel.
ISO 12215-5 sets rules for how a boat’s hull, deck, and internal structure must handle pressure, vibration, and impact. In plain English? Your Hell’s Bay is overbuilt for the kind of punishment real fishing delivers — hard runs across shallow flats, unexpected chop, or a long ride home against the wind.
2. Precision, Not Guesswork.
While some builders rely on “good enough,” we don’t. The ISO standard makes sure every curve, core, and joint in a Hell’s Bay skiff is engineered using proven formulas and materials — not just tradition, but science and tradition working together.
3. Lightweight Without Compromise.
Our one-piece composite construction, refined over years of testing, gives you the perfect blend of strength and shallow-draft agility. That’s how you get a skiff that poles like a feather, runs like a dream, and still feels rock-solid underfoot.
4. Lasting Value.
Boats built to ISO standards hold their integrity — and their value — year after year. It’s one of the reasons guides and serious anglers alike invest in Hell’s Bay. These skiffs don’t just fish better; they age better!
5. Confidence Everywhere You Go.
When you’re chasing tailing reds or bonefish in a stiff breeze, peace of mind matters. Knowing your boat is built to a recognized international safety and strength standards means you can focus on the hunt — not the hardware.
A Little Tradition, A Little Future:
Yes, we love the old-school way of boat-building—frames, stringers, hand inspections, craftsmen who know salt and sun. But standards like ISO 12215-5 were created because the sea doesn’t care how pretty your boat looks, it cares how it’s built. Hell’s Bay honors the tradition and brings in the modern standards.
That’s how you get a boat that feels timeless but also performs and lasts like something engineered for purpose.
That is why every Hell’s Bay skiff is built to the internationally recognized ISO 12215-5 standard — the same professional benchmark used to certify world-class vessels around the globe.
In short:
If you’re serious about shallow-water fishing, skip the “good enough” boat. Choose Hell’s Bay, built to proven structural standards, built for the long haul. You’ll thank yourself when the tide drops low, the flats whisper, and your skiff glides where others are stranded.
At Hell’s Bay Boatworks:
We don’t cut corners.
We don’t chase trends.
We build the world’s finest shallow-water skiffs — by hand, by experience, and to the highest international standards.
Because when you are miles from the ramp and inches from the bottom, there’s no substitute for a skiff that’s built right…

BTT to Honor Conservation Leaders

Bonefish & Tarpon Trust (BTT) will honor conservation leaders Jeff Harkavy, Tim Borski and Chris and Wendi Peterson of Hell’s Bay Boatworks at the organization’s 8th International Science Symposium on Nov. 7-8 2025 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina.

Chris and Wendi Peterson, owners of Hell’s Bay Boatworks, will receive the Flats Stewardship Award in recognition of their efforts to safeguard fisheries. As a leading boat maker, Hell’s Bay has long been an ardent supporter of marine conservation, donating to BTT, Captains for Clean Water and the Coastal Conservation Association. Through their work with these organizations, the Peterson’s have become deeply involved in water policy-making.

Chris served for more than a decade on the BTT board of directors, and Wendi is a board member for Captains for Clean Water. In 2020, Chris was appointed to the St. Johns River Water Management District board, helping to develop water policies that affect more than five million people living in 18 counties. He has also advocated for healthy waterways before the Florida Legislature and the U.S. Congress.
“Jeff, Tim, Chris and Wendi are remarkable leaders in the conservation of our flats fisheries,” BTT President and CEO Jim McDuffie said. “The impact of their many contributions, individually and collectively, is evident in our progress to improve water quality, conserve coastal habitats and ensure effective fishery management, while their unwavering commitment to the cause has inspired countless other anglers and outdoor enthusiasts to become involved in our mission.”
As BTT award recipients, Harkavy, Borski, and the Peterson’s will be enshrined on the BTT Circle of Honor, which recognizes legendary anglers, fishing guides, and conservation leaders who have made significant contributions to the conservation of the flats fishery. The Circle of Honor is housed in the Florida Keys History & Discovery Center, located in Islamorada, Florida, and features an annually rotating exhibit about those honored as well as educational content about the significance of the flats fishery.

To be a Hell’s Bay skiff means to be handcrafted to tolerances unlike any other boat. It’s made for the long haul, in fact, we are our own worst competition- A used Hell’s Bay skiff (if you can find one) is still a better boat than most.
WE DON’T TAKE ORDERS , WE HAVE CONVERSATIONS:
We start by sitting down and talking through the essentials—where you fish, who you fish with, and how you like to do it. Side or center console? Tiller? Fly or bait? Every angler and guide have their preferences, and that’s exactly how we build them. Together, we design a boat that fits your style, your needs, and your waters. Then we craft a vessel that’s purpose-built for the way you fish.
Give us a call or stop by—we’ll help you get started on your next Hell’s Bay, the World’s Finest Shallow Water Skiffs!
WE ARE NOT A FACTORY, WE ARE A BOATWORKS:
